Arriving at Switzerland’s world renowned luxury ski resorts requires ascending heights as you cross over the hundreds of kilometers to reach the mountain’s pinnacle. But did you also know that arriving atop of the mountains also means ascending heights of luxury? Many of the Chalets found on the glamorous ski resorts of Zermatt, Verbier, Davos and Crans Montana offer the finest luxuries and amenities making any discerning epicurean quite pleased.

For your great winter escape in Switzerland, ascend those mountains with a luxury SUV that has all the three P’s of Performance, Power and Panache making sure that you arrive at these ski resorts in great time and looking admiringly stylish. Book Luxury Car has an enviable variety of four wheel drive vehicles from Range Rovers, Land Rovers to Porsche SUVs, BMW SUVs and Jeeps. Getting you to the slopes may be as easy as knowing your A,B,C but don’t ever forget the P,P&P!

Chalet Elbrus, Zermatt

Pedestrian free and nothing short of a white paradise ankle deep in snow, Zermatt is fast becoming one of Switzerland’s most treasured ski resorts. With astonishingly beautiful scenery, highly enviable snow conditions, superb ski pistes and a captivating apres ski nightlife, Zermatt is a popular choice. Choosing our top Chalet pick for this ski resort was by no means an easy feat as there are just so many luxurious offerings you can hardly make the wrong decision. However, chosen for its rustic authentic timbers and stone masonry work that have been beautifully harmonised with plush furnishings, we went with Chalet Elbrus for our first choice. The accommodation really puts you at the most contemporary edge of interior style and design, even if just for a few days. Fitted with all the modern conveniences that you would expect from a five star residence, but all exceptionally fused with traditional alpine features that capitalises on the amazing panoramic views of the Matterhorn ice glacier.

Chalet Seven, Crans Montana

Whilst considered to be the panoramic balcony of the Alps, life seems to take on the conundrum of ‘to be on-pistes or off-pistes?” as you are spoiled for choice of what to do off the slopes. Spend your time between the plethora of health clubs, gastronomic restaurants and chic boutiques. That’s not even counting the swimming pools, indoor sports, cinemas and ice rinks.

Yet to make this dilemma unnecessarily harder our choice for top chalet went to the-one-and-only Chalet Seven. Why seven? We’re not really sure as this humongous residence can actually sleep a whopping 24 lucky souls. With features that include an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor jacuzzi, a sauna, a treatment room, a highly extensive games room, a gym, a library, and most importantly a well stocked wine cellar (give me a sec to catch my breath), these features are really just the highlights. Yet as wonderful as Crans Montana is, if you ever find the front door of this modern day palace in the heavens, that would be a significant accomplishment in itself.

Chalet Spa, Verbier

Verbier has its roots as a luxury ski resort for over several decades. As a large resort it is situated in a sunny south facing bowl, that royalty, celebrities, the rich and famous have all traditionally made their winter home for a few weeks at the height of the winter months. Take your part in the Verbier tradition of skiing on the snow and yet under the sun.

Our choice of finest resort was awarded to Chalet Spa Verbier for its sense of exclusive calm and confident feel of reassurance which simply didn’t escape us throughout our stay. Guests are able to enjoy and partake of the state-of-the-art home entertainment complex, the warmth of the centrally positioned, designer fireplace and immerse themselves in an Infinity pool with a massage fountain. At night time, an ambient mood lighting fills the room with soft blue and multi-colour LED lighting that smoothly integrates the Chalet with the outdoor Spa & terraces. Providing a fluid transition between the warmth of the inside to the crisp mountain air outside.

Tivoli Lodge, Davos

World famous and world class, Davos combines over 320km of excellent-condition marked skiing with the grounds on which history is made and sealed. Davos is both the location of the World Economic Forum and winter sport championship tournaments for which previous world records have been smashed through.

Like everything else in Davos, the accommodation options were extremely competitive, but after considerable debate, the Tivoli Lodge was decided on. Chosen if for no other reason than because it was so transformingly magical. With the capability of sleeping as many as 16 in each of the chalet’s sumptuously comfortable beds, guests are welcome to roam from room to room sensually exploring each of the luxuriously appointed living areas. The sunlit dining room takes in sweeping views that overlook the Davos valley, while the lounge area is filled with plush light coloured furnishings where the sunlight dances off  the many contours. As if belonging to a world in ‘The Magic Far-away Tree’ is an incredible two-story soft play jungle gym where children can climb through fairy palaces. Yet in contrast at the indoor pool, you are met with a more subdued mood, a veritable underworld, where the water shimmers the reflection of the dark grains of the deep rich wood and stone surfaces.

With so many great ski resort resorts in Switzerland, it might be hard to choose which one to visit. Yet at least when that’s decided, you will know exactly which luxury chalet you intend to sooth those aching muscles after a long day of whisking down those fantastic slopes!
