With a legacy of providing luxurious hospitality for the past 170 or so years, the staff at Baur au Lac are masters in the arts of comfort and indulgence. They have achieved this by listening and staying closely attuned to the discerning tastes and preferences, for the better half of two centuries, to the myriad of guests for whom they have provided a welcome stay. Baur au Lac is wonderfully situated in its own park that has breathtaking views overlooking Lake Zurich and the Swiss Alps that appear to delicately touch the horizon. Yet despite these astonishing open views, the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the financial district of Paradeplatz and Bahnhofstrasse.
As I walked inside the hotel’s grand interior I was welcomed by friendly staff and immediately felt comfortable amongst the luxurious ambience. My room was interior decorated with an unfailing sense of a rich Regency design. It was amazing to be surrounded in such confines where clearly attention to detail had been considered into every square inch. Despite the traditional design, the room was also fitted with all modern day technical amenities, including a more than satisfying internet connection and heated flooring.
The only identifiable challenge that this hotel presented was that it did not make it easy for me to leave.
