Aston Martin Rapide S Review
Car Summary
Hire an Aston Martin Rapide to drive the most powerful and agile four-door Aston Martin ever built. With innovative technology and advanced engineering directly inspired from the racetrack, Aston Martin have created an immense 6.0L AM29 V12 engine that produces 552 bhp and pushes the Rapide from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.
An advanced 8-speed Touchtronic III transmission works brilliantly with the engine to set new standards in performance. Gearshifts take just 130 milliseconds and four distinct driving modes maximise driver involvement and control. The energy produced by the V12 engine is multiplied by the Touchtronic III transmission, giving faster acceleration and enabling the Aston Martin Rapide to reach an incredible top speed of 326 km/h.
The body is constructed using Aston Martin’s VH architecture, with lightweight aluminium and epoxy resin giving rigidity and stability. Dynamic Stability Control works in harmony with the transmission to enhance handling and driver control, and a Gen4 Adaptive Damping system allows drivers to choose between Normal, Sport and Track modes to suit a range of driving styles.
Aston Martin have designed the Rapide to reflect its dynamic performance, with an aerodynamic profile and beautiful exterior that includes their renowned grille and forged alloy wheels. In the cabin, four adults will travel in luxurious comfort, with exquisite full-grain Luxmill leather upholstery and walnut trim, heated front and rear seats and a Bang and Olufsen sound system.
Advanced safety features include front and side airbags, cruise control and front and rear parking sensors, while a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) satellite navigation and infotainment system brought to you via a 6.5” LCD screen ensures drivers remain connected and informed at all times.
Experience a thrilling drive in one of the world’s most exciting 4-door sports cars when you rent an Aston Martin Rapide.
Reviews“The Aston Martin Rapide S mixes sports car elegance with hatchback practicality”
A practical version of Aston Martin’s GT coupes, the Rapide S has an extra pair of doors and plenty of space for two adults. An immense 6.0-litre V12 engine produces 550 bhp and the styling is bold with an imposing front grille and large rear spoiler. The eight-speed gearbox is superb, and the car feels pleasingly nimble for its size, with firm suspension and adaptive dampers for a smoother ride. The cabin features Aston Martin’s distinctive instruments and excesses of wood and leather trim, and passengers in the back will appreciate the luxury and comfort of the beautifully tailored rear seats.
“While other four doors are somber and serene, the sexy Rapide S is flat out beserk”.
The Aston Martin Rapide S, represents an inverted reality, where practicality may be a burden, but beauty is always at the pinnacle. Built with a 550 hp, 5.9 L V12, this is not the normal four door sports car, norms are constantly broken and she is all the more adored for it. Shaped like a fighter jet canopy, she is built from aluminium panels, making her light weight enough to enable her to convincingly take flight. Engineered with an eight speed automatic transmission, she will escalate from first to eighth gear with lightning fast transitions that reach its maximum within 4.7 seconds. The Rapide S offers a spacious interior, but then the ceiling hangs low diminishing the head room. It may not be the limousine that you find yourself taking to the Oscars, but then again every ride in the Rapide S is red carpet worthy.
“the Rapide S gets a brand-new gearbox, reworked suspension and a few other tweaks under the skin.”
Since its first launch in 2010, the Aston Martin Rapide has been improved with more power and prettier styling. The latest Aston Martin Rapide S has had a complete reworking in 2013, with updated suspension and a brand new gearbox. It goes over 321 km/h for the first time, thanks to the innovative eight-speed automatic transmission and there are also impressive emission levels, with the naturally aspirated V12 achieving CO2 emissions of 300 g/km. Suspension is tight, ensuring the Rapide S is composed over bumps and agile on corners, and once you hit the open road, you’ll forget that you are in fact driving a four-door, four-seat car.
