Jaguar XJ Review

By Mark Aria - Lifestyle Adventurist and Adrenaline Junkie

Car Summary

Drive luxury to new heights when you hire a Jaguar XJ. The embodiment of good taste and style, this supreme executive car successfully combines beauty, luxury and power to create one of the most prestigious cars on the road.

The standard wheelbase Jaguar XJ is simply incredible. The drive is dynamic, the handling is sublime and the cabin is extremely comfortable. A powerful 3.0L V6 275 turbocharged diesel engine provides a superior performance, making 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 249 km/h. It also improves fuel efficiency with a combined fuel economy of up to 46.3 mpg, whilst the 8-speed automatic transmission includes an intelligent Stop/Start programme for further energy conservation.

The drive is particularly dynamic with a lightweight aluminium body, precise steering and adaptive dampers making the car feel light and agile, so much so that it often feels more like driving a performance sports car.

The Jaguar XJ is also a stunning vehicle to look at with a dashing sweeping profile, bi-xenon headlights, 18” alloy wheels and an imposing grille. This large luxury car is one of the safest cars on the road thanks to stability and traction control, a pop-up bonnet to protect pedestrians and eight driver and passenger airbags.

There is an advanced navigation system, with updated instructions and traffic alerts and a selection of virtual instruments brought to you via an elegant 8” touch screen digital display.

The XJ also comes with a full multimedia system and a 14 speaker Meridian surround sound for exceptional sound quality, enabling you to sit back and relax in the soft grain leather adjustable seats, optimise the temperature with the four zone climate control and let the Jaguar XJ take comfort to a whole new level.

“The 2015 Jaguar XJR is an interesting alternative to the usual German large sedans, mixing old world charm with fantastic handling and powertrains.”

The 2015 Jaguar XJ is the largest car of luxury brand Jaguar’s model line up, yet with an aluminium body it remains lightweight and has a nimble, sporty feel. It has a fresh and contemporary design, with a gorgeous roofline and dramatic rear-end styling. It comes with a powerful supercharged 3.0L diesel engine and either a standard wheelbase or long wheel base. The engine is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that gives quick and smooth gear changes, and the ride feels firm yet dynamic. It comes with airbags, anti-lock brakes and traction and stability control, as well as a blind sport alert system and adaptive cruise control. The cabin is extremely luxurious, with a LCD digital display, huge glass sunroof and upgraded leather seats, as well as being pretty roomy and generous with cargo space.

“With elegant looks and effortless handling, the Jaguar XJ is a superb luxury alternative to its more traditional German rivals”
It rivals Mercedes, BMW and Audi for the luxury car market, with a dynamic drive, luxurious cabin and dramatic styling. It is fast and powerful with a low driving position and ‘wrap-around’ cockpit, making it one of the best handling cars of its class. Made from lightweight aluminium, it feels light and nimble to drive and turns into corners quickly. Adaptive dampers allow it to remain taut, even when cornering hard, and steering is light and precise. The 275 bhp 3.0l V6 diesel engine is the best available, doing 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds and reaching 249 km/h whilst remaining incredibly quiet. There is plenty of passenger space, and luxuries such as climate control, a dual-view TV screen and adjustable leather seats.
