Hitting the Beach Club Scene with the Girls

Beach Club Costa del Sol

I just got back from an amazing vacation with my girlfriends and before my tan lines fade, I better get this article written.

A week in the gorgeous Costa del Sol with the girls, sipping cocktails and getting tanned was nothing short of perfection. We arrived early in the morning at the Kempinski Hotel Bahia Estepona, where we would be staying. Being this an all girls trip, we decided to book a three-bedroom suite, which was to-die-for. It had a fireplace, a separate living area and a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. From sunrise to sundown and into the late hours of the night, we spent quality time together like we hadn’t done in a long time and because I had to squeeze in a little work-related research, I surprised the girls with an itinerary to hit three of Costa del Sol’s trendiest beach clubs, so I could later report on our experiences.

Our first stop, the lavish, luxurious and sophisticated Nikki Beach, by far the trendiest and most exclusive beachside club on the coast. We arrived mid morning on the Bentley Continental GTC we rented, top down and music blasting. The valet parker greeted us at the driveway and we entered summer paradise. We had reserved an Opium Bed, which is one of the pool side cabanas as well as one balinese style sunbed by the pool. We were escorted by a very nice young man, given towels and got our drinks order taken. We spent the day lounging, dipping in the pool, drinking mojitos and spotted not one, but two models (I’ll leave names out to protect their privacy, but they truly looked like “Angels”). When the sun set, the party at Nikki heated up, with live sax, drums and simply the best beach party atmosphere around.

The next day, work required us (wink, wink) to appear at Beach Club in Puerto Banus, Marbella’s famous marina lined with designer boutiques, restaurants, cafes and nightclubs where Europe’s elite comes out to play. We spent the next few hours being sun-kissed as we laid on a super-comfy, extra large sun bed by the saltwater pool, listening to the coolest tunes spun by the DJ. For lunch, we ordered delicious salads and wok dishes from the five-star restaurant, which offers a fusion of classical French, Belgian, Mediterranean and traditional Asian cuisine, and ate on our sun lounger, shaded by an azure-coloured parasol. Beach Club is no less than the epitome of a what a beach club should be.

The last beach club we visited was La Sala by the Sea, previously Buddha Beach, a boutique beach club and a tropical paradise located in the outskirts of Puerto Banus. We spent the day worshipping the sun on a sumptuous bed around the club’s circular pool and enjoyed cocktails in the jacuzzi. For lunch, we all shared a Thai prawn salad with a lemongrass dressing, a crispy beef salad on a bed of shredded carrot and baby lettuce and a plate of mixed Thai tapas.

With deep tan lines and an almost visible vacation glow, we left Spain’s Costa del Sol with a promise to do a girl’s getaway again soon.
