Ferrari 458 Speciale Review
Car Summary
The Ferrari 458 Speciale is the most powerful high performance Ferrari ever built, and it is incredible. Ferrari have utilised a wealth of advanced technology to create a brilliantly focussed sports car with active aerodynamics, enhanced performance and superb handling. Reward yourself with a unique drive an exhilarating supercar when you hire a Ferrari 458 Speciale.
Brilliant both on the road and on the racetrack, the Ferrari 458 Speciale is remarkably responsive and its finely tuned handling rewards drivers with an intense driving experience. Ferrari have drawn on their F1 expertise to produce an incredible engine and collaborated with Pininfarina to sculpt the 458 Speciale into an aerodynamic body shape, with active aerodynamics to optimize downforce and drag.
Ferrari’s engineers have been able to maximise the V8’s potential by optimising combustion and mechanical efficiency, and the result is an exceptional mid-rear 4.5L V8 engine that punches out 596 hp at 9000 rpm, while its power output of 135 cv per litre is the highest achieved by a road-going naturally aspirated engine.
The Ferrari 458 Speciale boasts a top speed of 325 km/h, and reaches 0-100 km/h in just 3 seconds. You’ll enjoy excellent control and stability when the engine is in full force, thanks to the electronic ‘Side Slip angle Control’ (SSC) that enables the car to remain stable and responsive at high speeds. The Brembo brakes and suspension have been created using innovative technology to deliver outstanding performance, the dual-clutch transmission is fast and responsive, while the 20” Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tyres offer superb grip, even in wet conditions.
In building the 458 Speciale, Ferrari have succeeded in putting one of the most thrilling high performance sports cars on the road.
Reviews“Is it worth it? If you’re looking for one of the most memorable driving experiences around, the answer is a huge yes”
With an incredible V8 soundtrack, blistering performance and superb handling, this is one of the greatest high performance cars on the road. An upgraded version of the 458 Italia, the power of the 4.5L V8 engine has increased to 597 bhp and the 0-100 km/h time is just 3.0 seconds. Weight is reduced by an impressive 90 kg, and the stunning body has been given a more aggressive, agile feel. There are active dynamics to increase downforce and reduce drag, whilst the interior is full of racing inspired features such as lightweight leather seats and carbon fibre trim. Handling is sublime, and there is so much grip that it is unlikely this car will ever slide. Steering is direct and sharp, whilst the modified Brembo brakes demonstrate incredible stopping power.
“The Ferrari 458 Speciale is the latest in a line of super-hardcore mid-engined Ferrari V8’s”
The Ferrari 458 Speciale takes what was already considered to be the most extreme road car available, and improves it. Compared to the 458 Italia, the Speciale produces 597 bhp at 9000 rpm, is 90 kg lighter and includes new magnetic dampers, stiffer springs and anti-roll bars. Gearshifts are fast and precise, and a new ‘Side Slip angle Control (SSC) system allows even the more inexperienced driver to push the Speciale to its limits. Grip is astounding thanks to the Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tyres, and steering is accurate and responsive. This is a seriously fast car with a remarkable engine that produces incredible torque with explosive delivery.
