Ferrari California T Review
Car Summary
One of the most desirable luxury prancing horse GTs on the road, the Ferrari California Turbo synthesises innovation and technology to create an elegant and versatile open-top sports car. Epitomising Ferrari’s sporting credentials, the new turbo-charged V8 engine boasts blistering power, impressive torque and outstanding fuel efficiency.
Hire a Ferrari California Turbo for an incredible high performance Grand Tourer with razor sharp responsiveness and superb handling.
Pushing this sports car to ferocious speeds, the 3855 V8 engine is astonishing. It produces 560 bhp and 755 Nm of torque, achieves 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 315 km/h. With the top down, the soundtrack of the V8 engine is just incredible. An F1 dual-clutch 7-gear transmission transfers the power to the road brilliantly, steering is responsive and handling precise.
A wealth of state-of-the-art electronic systems, including F1-Trac, SCM3 ‘magnetorheological’ suspension and an advanced Automatic Braking System contribute to the incredible driving experience, and you’ll find the 47% front, 53% rear weight distribution, as well as the lightweight aluminium body and chassis, give the California T the stability and firmness one demands of a high performance cabriolet.
Built using innovative aluminium panels, the automatic retractable hardtop opens and closes in a lightening fast 14 seconds, and Ferrari have ensured that luggage space remains generous even with the top down. In the beautifully handcrafted cabin, the ergonomic and streamlined design maximises safety and comfort, a selection of intuitive controls allow you to operate the Turbo Performance Engineer (TPE) digital instrument display and infotainment system with ease, and soft leather seats allow you to sit back and enjoy the thrill of open-air driving in style.
Reviews“the California has been one of the best-selling Ferraris ever”
..and now Ferrari have turbo-charged the engine. Seen by many as a controversial decision, Ferrari have spent four years developing this powerful machine, and have succeeded in creating a compact engine that fits neatly in the chassis, is capable of 557 lb ft of torque in seventh gear and will reach 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Ferrari have tweaked the California’s chassis, adding firmer springs to aid the handling and lower-friction, and adaptable dampers to help the ride. And that ride is pretty much ideal; it boasts amazing traction and is very composed on corners, and the Ferrari California T absorbs road-turbulence smoothing out any bumps with ease.
“the new twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 delivers driving thrills, sounds immense and is more economical to boot”
The open-top-coupe GT California opened Ferrari up to a new generation of car drivers, and now the turbo-charged California T boasts a refresh of styling and increased power. Ferrari have created an engine with incredible revs, reduced lag and the genuine sound of a Ferrari V8. Springs are stiffer, the steering is quicker and Ferrari’s F1-inspired traction control system is well suited to the turbo charged engine. Ferrari have made a successful car even more desirable in the Ferrari California T.
