Audi Q5 Review

By Mark Aria - Lifestyle Adventurist and Adrenaline Junkie

Car Summary

Hire an Audi Q5 to drive the ultimate compact luxury crossover SUV from Audi. With the athletic agility and bearing of a coupé, this is not your typical SUV. A handsome 4x4 with generous space and impressive performance, the Audi Q5 is an SUV that handles like a hatchback.

A 2.0 TFSI direct injection quattro 222 bhp engine is mated to an advanced 8-speed tiptronic transmission and a five-link front suspension. The direct-injection engine uses innovative FSI technology to give an additional injection of power and torque. By being able to inject the precise amount of fuel into the combustion chambers, the FSI system enhances fuel efficiencies, with a significant reduction in fuel consumption and lower exhaust emissions. The 8-speed tiptronic transmission converts the engine power into sporting performance, further enhancing the Q5’s fuel economy.

A further saving is made by the recuperation system by transforming waste thermal energy produced through the braking system into useful electrical energy, which then relieves the load on the alternator when accelerating. Automatic start/stop switches off the engine when your car comes to a standstill, and automatically restarts once you touch the clutch, while the innovative quattro permanent all-wheel drive delivers better acceleration and grip to the road by cleverly distributing power to the front and rear axles as required.

The Audi Q5 is aerodynamically designed for increased speed and fuel efficiency, and is equipped with a range of features including aluminium roof rails, 18” wheels, low rolling resistance tyres, an auto-dimming rear view mirror and halogen headlights with daytime running lights. An electromechanical parking brake, emergency braking system, off-road Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and cruise control are amongst the driving assist programme to enhance safety, whilst a leather 4-spoke multi-function steering wheel, leather seats and a deluxe 3-zone climate control contribute to the extreme comfort for passengers and driver inside the luxurious cabin.

Both luxurious and incredibly capable, the Audi Q5 is the ideal SUV for both city driving and gentle off-road adventures.

“The 2015 Audi Q5 is stylish, luxurious, fun to drive and offered with no fewer than four different powertrains. It's a star in its class.”

The Audi Q5 comes with with xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights and a power liftgate as standard. It is a luxury car that looks great on the outside and oozes luxury inside. It is also fun to drive, with smooth acceleration and a sporty and dynamic drive thanks to its TFSI direct injection engine and 8-speed tiptronic transmission. It comes with a raft of safety features, including stability and traction control, front side airbags and side curtain airbags and proves capable both on-road and off-road.

The Audi Q5 is a premium crossover that rivals the BMW X3”

This upmarket SUV is built to first class standards, with a classy interior and good driving dynamics. It comes with Audi’s quattro four-wheel drive system and is capable and composed on and off-road. It has strong grip on the road, decent body control and well-weighted steering, as well as excellent refinement. The finish in the cabin is second to none, and there is generous space for five adults to travel in comfort. The 2.0L TFSI petrol engine produces 222 bhp and is impressively frugal, particularly when mated with the 8-speed tiptronic gearbox. The Audi Q5 is capable of light off-road adventures and the drive remains exceedingly comfortable for all travellers.
