Audi RS 5 Coupé Review
Car Summary
Utilising Audi’s experience on the racetrack, the Audi RS Coupé is a powerful yet elegant high performance executive car. Hire an Audi RS Coupé for a thrilling drive in one of Audi’s most powerful front-engined luxury cars.
The 4.2 V8 FSI quattro engine develops 450PS and transmits a maximum of 430 Nm of torque. Using the fuel-injection technology that gave Audi its success at Le Mans, the engine is efficient and powerful and has plenty of torque. It optimises its use of power, with Audi Launch Control combining both braking and acceleration for a sprint start and following with a consistent build up of power for a thrilling and responsive drive. The RS5 Coupé shoots from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and carries on until it reaches a 327 km/h. The 7-speed S Tronic dual clutch transmission is designed to think ahead by engaging in the odd-numbered and even-numbered gears separately, providing almost uninterrupted power and smooth ride, whilst the Audi quattro permanent all-wheel-drive gives incredible handling with superb traction.
The powerful braking system is more than capable of controlling the RS 5 Coupé, with high-gloss 8-piston fixed callipers in the front wheels and single piston sliding callipers at the rear. Audi drive select allows you to alter your car’s handling and response at the simple touch of a button, altering the power steering, transmission and throttle response, and there are raft of driver assist programmes, including Audi parking system plus and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). There are driver and passenger airbags, an electromechanical parking brake and a light and rain sensor that automatically turns the headlights and windscreen wipers on or off depending on the weather.
The Audi RS 5 Coupé’s interior is designed for a unique and comfortable driving experience, with impressive attention to detail. You’ll find luxurious Fine Nappa leather RS Super Sports seats, leather armrests and an RS 3-spoke flat-bottomed leather steering wheel. Interior equipment includes an Audi 10 speaker sound system, MMI Navigation system plus with a 7” colour display and Audi Music Interface. A deluxe 3-zone climate control ensures your optimised comfort at all times, whilst an interior light package with front and rear footwell lighting, illuminated vanity mirrors and rear reading lights create a wonderful ambience.
Reviews“The Audi RS5 offers masses of performance and four-wheel drive”
With smooth coupé lines, a powerful V8 engine, four-wheel-drive transmission and four-seater cabin, the Audi is the supercar for all seasons. Rivalling the BMW M4 and the Mercedes C63 AMG, the Audi RS5 Coupé has a 444bhp 4.2L V8 engine and a 7-speed S Tronic twin-clutch automatic gearbox that delivers lightning fast and smooth gearshifts. It is a very capable car with superb traction, handling, and excellent body control, whilst the cabin is beautifully finished and offers generous head and legroom for all four occupants, as well as plenty of storage space.
“…it posted a very respectable performance at our recent Britain’s Best Driver’s Car contest, impressing our testers to the extent that many thought it the best front-engined Audi since the RS4”
Beneath the skin of the RS5 lies a serious level of technological hardware, with a 4.2-litre V8 engine similar to the V8 and V10 engines found in the Audi R8 supercar. The maximum power output is impressive at 444 bhp and it is the first Audi RS to have a seven-speed, dual clutch gearbox. Launch control and the four-wheel drive quattro system allow for fast acceleration, and Dynamic Steering actively alters the steering ratio dependent on speed. The RS5 offers a dynamic driving experience in an agile luxury car.
