Porsche Panamera S Review

By Isabella Cunningham - Lifestyle Guru and Socialite

Car Summary

A sports car with the practicality of a coupé, the Porsche Panamera S embodies the traditional values of Porsche. Hire a Porsche Panamera S saloon for a spacious and comfortable luxury car ideal for everyday driving.

Driven by a powerful 3.0-litre V6 engine with twin-turbochargers, the Porsche Panamera makes big savings on its fuel economy thanks to its lightweight body and use of advanced technology, including direct fuel injection (DFI), which operates with incredible precision to inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber, and VarioCam Plus, which optimises torque with incredible efficiency. The engine makes 420 bhp at 6000 rpm, with 520 Nm of torque available between 1750 and 5000 rpm. It can achieve 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and hits a top speed of 286 km/h, with the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) offering both manual and automatic seven-speed transmission for sports car performance, as well as quick and efficient gearshifts.

The automatic start/stop function saves fuel by switching off the engine when the vehicle comes to a standstill without turning off the climate control and infotainment system, whilst the much-coveted SPORT button allows you to choose between comfort or a sporty performance, with sharper responses and more direct engine dynamics. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) also offer firmer damping and more direct steering in SPORT mode, resulting in more agile steering and stability when driving.

The Panamera S’s exhaust system is made from long-life stainless steel and includes primary and main catalytic converters that heat up quickly to ensure a reduction in emissions. Bi-Xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights are integrated into the main headlight unit for a sporty look, further enhanced by the distinctive silver-coloured brake callipers and 18” Panamera S wheels.

The proportions of the Porsche Panamera are typical of any Porsche, with high wings at the rear for more muscle and an iconic Porsche tapered roofline, as well as dashing large front air intakes and stunning rear contours. The interior is beautifully finished and offers an exceptionally high degree of comfort, with four individual seats and plenty of luggage space, while the cockpit is ergonomically designed and instrument controls are logically place for a brilliant driving experience.

Designed for performance, pleasure and comfort, the Porsche Panamera S is the ideal luxury car for all kinds of driving needs.

“The V8 is gone, we find out what the Porsche Panamera S is like with its new twin-turbo V6”
The new twin-turbo V6 engine in the Porsche Panamera S certainly ticks all the right boxes, improving performance and balance, as well as giving a better fuel economy by up to 18%. This is a sports car with the comfort of a luxury limo, and with a sharp drive and good suspension it offers an incredible drive. Passengers in the rear will enjoy plenty of leg and headroom, and the quality of the cabin is superb.

“Despite the simple remit of being a big, prestige sports saloon, it falls into a sector that puts it in competition with everything from niche models such as the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé and Mercedes CLS, right through to conventional luxury saloons such as the Jaguar XJ”

It is hard to classify the Porsche Panamera S, but with a powerful and efficient 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic PDK gearbox, it certainly proves its sporting capabilities. Power from its high performance engine is seamlessly delivered for a particularly smooth ride at all speeds and handling is good for a car of its size. The steering is responsive and predictable, body roll is well controlled and the refinement is excellent. It is a very luxurious car, with a high quality interior and plenty of space for four to travel in comfort.
