Porsche Boxster Review
Car Summary
Specifically designed as a roadster, the powerful mid-engined Porsche 718 Boxster has long been a favourite in the Porsche model line up. Offering a dynamic drive and luxurious interior, renting a Porsche Boxster rewards drivers with the thrilling sensation of open-top driving in one of the world’s favourite Convertible sports cars.
Porsche have utilised a range of innovative technologies and lightweight construction to increase performance and reduce the fuel economy. The 2.7L direct fuel injection flat-six engine produces 265 bhp at 6,700 rpm and maximum torque of 280 Nm between 4,500 and 6500 rpm. It will make a top speed of 264 km/h, shoots from 0-100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds and is equipped with Porsche’s VarioCam Plus and DFI, as well as automatic start/stop, electrical system recuperation and enhanced thermal management.
The lightweight manual 6-speed transmission affords precise gear changes that are smooth and responsive for a truly engaged driving experience, whilst the SPORT button, fitted on the centre console as standard, provides more responsive and enhanced driving experience, with a more direct throttle response and dynamic performance. The Porsche Boxster has electromechanical steering with a variable steering ratio that is responsive, direct and efficient, whilst power is transferred to the road via an impressive set of 18” Boxster wheels.
The Porsche Boxster is lean, muscular and agile, with stunning good looks with the roof up or down and halogen headlights fitted as standard. The high-quality interior is stylishly adorned with the finest materials, with the steering wheel, gear lever and door pull inlays finished in soft leather, and sports seats designed to maximise comfort and safety. The fabric roof keeps the wind and road noise out of the cabin, and allows for an impressively quiet and refined drive, even at high speeds.
You’ll find plenty of head and legroom for you and your passenger, as well as a generous luggage compartment compared to most cabriolets. A practical yet exhilarating luxury drop-top Sports Car, the Porsche Boxster hits the spot every time.
Reviews“Could the Porsche Boxster be the ultimate open-top sports car?”
Sharp handling, great engines and everyday usability make this one of the best drop-top sports cars around. Despite its compact dimensions, the wide purposeful stance, large air intakes and integrated rear spoiler emphasise the performance potential of the Porsche Boxster. A two-seater with a 2.7L 261bhp flat-six engine that gives a dynamic and responsive drive, this is one of the best performing sports cars you will find. In the cabin, there is generous head and legroom and the boot space is a respectable 280 litres. The traditional Porsche fabric hood can be raised and lowered in a matter of seconds, offering excellent insulation when raised.
"The entry-level Porsche Boxster is arguably the best all-rounder in the range. It remains one of the best-handling cars money can buy."
Setting a standard in the small convertible class, the Porsche Boxster offers a sharp and enjoyable drive. It has a 2.7L engine and a fabric roof that folds in just 9 seconds, and with the roof up the interior is quiet and refined. The precision and accuracy of this stylish sports car is superb, with a balanced front and rear grip and brilliant body control. The ride is comfortable, and the excellent driving position means you will retain your comfort over long distances. There is also plenty of space in the cabin, as well as generous luggage space in the front and rear.
