If you’re heading on the highway in a ravishing supercar, make sure it’s a long road. Thankfully there are many long highways heading out of Florence where you can put a adrenalin pumped supercar rental through its paces.
Driving south through the hills that scatter on the outskirts of Florence is Siena, a fascinating medieval city that is still so immersed in its past. Once in Siena head straight into the city’s geographical and cultural heart, the Piazza del Campo, this enormous shell shaped square is where much of the city’s happenings take place, but even when there are no big events to visit, the surrounding Gothic buildings alone, make it worth a visit. Perhaps the grandest building lining the square is the Palazzo Pubblico which functioned as Siena City Hall for almost 800 consecutive years. This historic building has become an iconic landmark of the richly historical city.
For your drive from Florence to Siena consider hiring any one of the supercars from amongst our impressive range. Start your search with the Aston Vanquish, a luxury sports GT it is built as much for aesthetic elegance as it is in the need for pure speed. Even that somehow doesn’t manage to inspire you then consider the McLaren P1, riding straight off the F1 racetrack, the design engineering of this supercar makes it one of the most exhilarating that we know of.
Yet don’t let our preferences interfere with your decision making as you may just as well be equally wowed by the Ferrari 458 Spider, as after all it is a powerful high performance V8 GT Supercar, capable of ferocious speed and a magnificent sound. And if none of those interest you, then we have a question, what the hell are you doing here??
Yet there is also the Piccolomini Palace that also has pride of place on the Piazza del Campo, built in 1459 by the famous architect Bernardo Rossellino, the grand palace has all the architectural flair of Florentine style that was so prized at the times. Today it is home to the official archives of Siena, which we could imagine you would need a few rather huge rooms to house it all.
Opposite the Palazzo Pubblico is the Palazzo Sansedoni which is another grand Gothic Church, that sits beautifully behind the Fonte Gaia, an intricate and stunning fountain sculpted way back in 1419. It was sculpted by the great artist Jacopo della Quercia and continues to be a focal point of the Piazza del Campo until today.
