Somewhat quieter and most certainly no less pretty is the southern bank of the Arno river. With a sports car rental in Florence we strongly recommend a day’s outing along this serene river side strip. Along the south bank of the river you will discover the palace of the former Medici family, where if you choose to step inside, you will explore a world of gold gilded splendor and luxuries. Filled with artwork and treasures, it’s testament to the grandeur of the former Italian royal family.
Hire the ultra stylish Jaguar F-type convertible in Florence and take a drive to walk through the Boboli Gardens. Offering a combination of endless power and extreme luxury, the open top Jaguar F-Type is one of the finest sports car cabrios that you could ever drive. The Boboli Gardens is an elaborately landscaped green escape, that under the dominion of the Medici family was decorated with beautiful sculptures as it became part of the “front lawn” of the Pitti Palace. Today it is filled with tourists from all over the world who come to enjoy the grandeur of the palace, the serenity of the gardens and the astounding views over Florence that takes in the grand Duomo.
For the occasion of visiting the Piazzale Michelangelo, which in English is the Michelangelo Square, you may want to consider hiring the Porsche 911 Carrera as it combines the best of automotive tradition with the most exciting technological innovations, built with a 3.4L DFI engine it is as much an iconic sports car with great looks as it is an incredible supercar with great power. The Piazzale Michelangelo is on a hilltop with spectacular views of Florence, while the trail of path and the climb up the stairs may be tiring from Lungarno della Zecca, the experience of it all makes it well worth the effort!
More of our favourite sites along the southern Arno bank include the Santa Maria del Carmine that is so widely loved by the locals for its famous frescoes and the San Miniato al Monte. Rent the BMW X6 M as it delivers an excellent drive with its high performance Turbo V8 engine, which makes this ravishing sports car an adrenaline junky’s preferred Sports Activity coupé. The San Miniato contains frescoes by Spinello Aretino within its Sacristy, while the nearby church cemetery holds the graves of some of Florence’s finest, such as Carlo Lorenzi, the author of the much loved Pinocchio.
